Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi once made headlines for calling his Murder co-star Mallika Sherawat a “bad kisser” during an appearance on filmmaker Karan Johar’s popular talk show Koffee With Karan.
During the episode, Emraan was asked to name his best and worst on-screen kisses. He identified his kiss with Mallika in the 2004 film Murder as his worst. He also said he had shared a couple of great kisses with actress Jacqueline Fernandez in Murder 2.
Emraan took another dig at Mallika when asked what one might find in her bedroom. His response was, “An Idiot’s Guide to Succeed in Hollywood.”
Mallika responded to the remarks during a media interaction, saying that the snake she kissed in her film Hisss was a better kisser than Emraan.
The actress later reflected on her fallout with Emraan during an appearance on Mandira Bedi’s show The Love Laugh Live Show. She described the misunderstanding between them as childish and said she regretted losing touch with her former co-star.
“We didn’t speak (after the feud), and now I think it was so childish. It was after the film, I think during promotions or something we had a misunderstanding. It was so uncalled for and so childish on my part also. I’m no less. I lost touch with him, and it’s really sad because he was a wonderful co-star, because he’s so friendly and giving. He’s a nice boy,” Mallika said.
Released on April 2, 2004, Murder made both Mallika and Emraan overnight sensations. The drama was adapted from the 2002 American film Unfaithful, which was itself inspired by the 1969 French film The Unfaithful Wife.
The film also featured Ashmit Patel in a key role and went on to become a commercial success. It was later remade in Kannada under the title Ganda Hendathi.
