Investigators probing the firing incident linked to Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff will examine an audio clip containing a threat and attempt to match the voice against databases maintained by the Punjab and Delhi Police, officials said.
These databases, described as “voice banks”, contain recordings of individuals allegedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Punjab, Delhi and Rajasthan Police maintain separate collections of voice samples, which have reportedly been used in earlier investigations involving threats to Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Rohit Shetty, Baba Siddique and others.
In the latest case, investigators will examine an audio clip attributed to Anil Pandit that surfaced following the alleged threat against Tiger Shroff.
Senior Mumbai Police sources said identifying the person behind an audio recording can be challenging because threats are often issued under different names and in different voices.
Delhi Police reportedly maintains a voice bank containing more than 200 samples linked to the Bishnoi gang, while Punjab and Rajasthan Police have similar databases.
Mumbai Police is also studying the gang’s methods and activities, which have increasingly come under scrutiny in Maharashtra, particularly in Mumbai, over the past two to three years.
Meanwhile, the Crime Branch’s Anti-Extortion Cell is scheduled to produce the accused arrested in the Tiger Shroff firing case before the Esplanade Court at 3 p.m.
According to sources, the accused arrived in Mumbai around a month before the incident and allegedly conducted reconnaissance of the residences of several prominent Bollywood celebrities.
The accused reportedly hired auto-rickshaws to travel around the city and asked drivers to take them to celebrities’ homes, allegedly claiming that they wanted to photograph the properties.
Investigators also suspect that the accused discarded both firearms at an unidentified location while fleeing Mumbai after the attack. Police are now attempting to trace and recover the weapons.
According to police sources, two pistols were used in the incident, one reportedly foreign-made and the other domestically manufactured. However, investigators have limited information about which of the two weapons was foreign-made.
The Mumbai Crime Branch is continuing its investigation to recover the firearms, establish the roles of the accused and determine the full extent of the alleged conspiracy.
