Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra met students of Vision IAS coaching institute on Wednesday and heard their grievances regarding the institute’s academic services and fee refunds.
According to the Congress, students raised concerns about a decline in the quality of teaching, mentorship and study materials. They also alleged that the institute’s management had failed to respond adequately to their demands for fee refunds.
In a post on X, the Congress said, “LoP Shri Rahul Gandhi and Congress General Secretary Smt. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra ji met students of the Vision IAS coaching institute.”
“The students raised serious concerns about a sharp decline in the quality of teaching, mentorship and study materials at the institute. They also said the management had been unresponsive to their demands for fee refunds,” the party added.
Vision IAS is a coaching institute that prepares candidates for the UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE). Its offerings include General Studies foundation courses, test series, current affairs magazines and personalised mentoring.
The institute operates classroom centres in Delhi’s Karol Bagh and Mukherjee Nagar areas, as well as in Jaipur, Pune, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad and Lucknow.
Students have reportedly raised concerns over suspended and repeatedly cancelled classes, declining teaching and mentorship standards, and delays in processing fee refunds.
In July this year, students and faculty members staged a protest outside the institute’s main branch in Karol Bagh, Delhi, over disruptions to academic activities and alleged non-payment of teachers’ salaries.
Faculty members raised concerns over payments being delayed or withheld for several months, while students demanded refunds of their fees.
The institute had also come under scrutiny in December last year when the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) imposed a penalty of Rs 11 lakh for allegedly publishing misleading advertisements on its official website about results of the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2022 and 2023, in violation of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
