Patna, October 21, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
A video purportedly showing an attempted assault on Jan Suraaj Party’s Bihar president, Manoj Bharti, has surfaced, drawing attention to an incident that the party says has since been resolved amicably. No FIR has been registered in the matter.
The video, reportedly recorded 15 to 20 days ago, allegedly shows a man confronting Bharti inside the Jan Suraaj Party office premises as the leader was leaving in a car. The man allegedly abused Bharti, grabbed him by the collar and attempted to slap him before party workers intervened and defused the situation.
According to information provided by officials, the dispute reportedly stemmed from a disagreement over the alleged non-payment of rent for a vehicle that had been used by the party office for around two years. The claim regarding outstanding rental dues has not been independently verified.
Bharti subsequently submitted a written communication to the Patliputra police station, informing the police about the incident and seeking steps to prevent similar occurrences. Police said the communication did not request the registration of an FIR.
An enquiry was conducted, during which Jan Suraaj representatives reportedly informed the police that the matter had been settled between the parties. The individual accused of misbehaviour also reportedly apologised to Bharti.
Police have not registered an FIR in connection with the incident.
When approached for a response, the Jan Suraaj Party said the matter had been resolved amicably through reconciliation. A formal statement from the party was awaited.
Sources said the party routinely hires vehicles for organisational activities, including election campaigning. Several vehicles were reportedly hired during the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, with party sources maintaining that rental charges were paid.
The incident has attracted attention following the circulation of the video, although the available information indicates that the dispute was settled and no criminal case was registered.
