US Scrutiny of Singham-Linked Groups Puts India, Europe Protest Networks in Focus

Washington, October 21, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Organisations and individuals linked to US tech tycoon Neville Roy Singham are facing renewed scrutiny over their funding and activities, as their coverage of protests in India and Europe draws attention to connections between international activist networks. However, the available reporting does not establish that these groups funded or directed the protests in India.

A Fox News Digital investigation by Asra Q. Nomani, published on Tuesday, said it had identified “101 organisations across 9 countries — including the US — that are coordinating, organising or amplifying protests in Europe.”

India featured twice in the report. Progressive International was cited for grouping protests in France, Spain, India and Albania in an October 16 briefing, asking how the “new rebellions” could translate into organised political power.

The report also listed Indian Alliance Paris, describing it as a France-based organisation connecting French and Indian protest messaging and noting its partnership with the People’s Forum in Manhattan. The report did not establish that the network was directing demonstrations in India.

Progressive International also posted about the protests from Delhi. In an October 12 post on X, it said: “We write from the barricades of Jantar Mantar, where the Government of India has deployed armed forces against citizens protesting mass disenfranchisement and defending their right to vote.”

Vijay Prashad, head of Tricontinental, referred to Paris and New Delhi alongside Buenos Aires in an October 18 post, writing: “Paris-New Delhi-Buenos Aires / Let fury have the hour, anger can be power.”

BreakThrough News covered the Indian protests on October 12, 13 and 16. In its October 13 coverage, it described the police response as “‘Unparalleled and unprecedented’ police repression.”

Fox News Digital identified BreakThrough News, CodePink and the Party for Socialism and Liberation as organisations funded and supported by Singham, an American-born technology entrepreneur who lives in Shanghai.

US congressional scrutiny and reported investigation

In July 2026, the House Ways and Means Committee, chaired by Jason Smith, subpoenaed BreakThrough News, Tricontinental and the People’s Forum. Smith led a congressional delegation that met External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar in Mumbai this week.

Earlier, in April 2025, Senator Chuck Grassley asked the US Justice Department whether the People’s Forum and CodePink should register as foreign agents. In his letter, Grassley wrote: “Evidence suggests that The People’s Forum and Code Pink have been funded and influenced by Mr. (Neville Roy) Singham and the communist Chinese government.”

The New York Post and CBS News have reported, citing unnamed sources, that a federal grand jury in Manhattan is investigating Singham. No charges have been filed, and the Justice Department has not confirmed the reported investigation. The New York Times first detailed Singham’s funding network in 2023.

The documented links cited in the reporting concern funding allegations, media coverage, amplification and expressions of solidarity. They do not, by themselves, establish that Singham or the organisations associated with him financed or controlled the demonstrations in India.

Electoral roll revision triggers protests

The demonstrations in India erupted over a revision of electoral rolls. The Guardian reported that the exercise had removed 130 million names from the electoral roll, while protesters demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

A BJP spokesperson rejected allegations surrounding the revision, saying they had “no base, not an iota of evidence.”

Separately, American singer Mary Millben posted a video on X last week discussing the protests and questioning who was funding them. In another video post, she alleged that the George Soros group was behind the demonstrations. These claims were presented in her social media posts; the material cited in the report does not independently establish them.
