Miri Piri Khalsa March Begins from Akal Takht Sahib with Call for Sikh Unity and Akal Takht’s Supremacy

Amritsar, July 24, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The Miri Piri Khalsa March, dedicated to Miri Piri Diwas, commenced on Friday from Sri Akal Takht Sahib to Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, Talwandi Sabo, with religious leaders calling for Sikh unity, Panthic consciousness and reaffirming the supremacy of Sri Akal Takht Sahib.

The march has been organised to spread the message of the Miri Piri philosophy propounded by the Sixth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib, while strengthening Panthic unity and taking the institution of Sri Akal Takht Sahib’s supremacy to the Sikh community, particularly the younger generation.

Addressing the gathering before the march began, Acting Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj said the Miri Piri doctrine represents the soul of Sikhism, combining spiritual values with the responsibility to stand against injustice and oppression. He said Sikh history bears testimony to the community overcoming every challenge by adhering to this principle.

Giani Gargaj said divisions within the community had historically weakened Sikh institutions and enabled hostile forces to target them. He urged Sikhs to remain united under the guidance of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, asserting that no force could weaken the institution if the Panth remained united.

Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said the march aims to carry the message of Miri Piri and the supremacy of Sri Akal Takht Sahib to every household while inspiring the younger generation to remain connected with Sikh teachings and institutions.

Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal appealed to the Sikh community to participate in the march at different stages of its journey, describing it as an initiative being carried out under the guidance of Sri Akal Takht Sahib.

The march began after religious ceremonies at Sri Akal Takht Sahib and witnessed participation from Sikh religious leaders, Nihang organisations, students and a large number of devotees. It will travel from Amritsar to Takht Sri Damdama Sahib through various towns and villages.
