Major IPS Reshuffle: Three Chandigarh Police Officers Moved, Two New Officers Posted

Chandigarh, July 9, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has ordered a reshuffle in the senior leadership of the Chandigarh Police, transferring three serving IPS officers out of the Union Territory while posting two new officers to Chandigarh as part of a large-scale transfer exercise involving AGMUT cadre officers.

According to the MHA orders issued on Thursday, Manjeet (IPS, 2015 batch) and Geetanjali Khandelwal (IPS, 2015 batch) have been transferred from Chandigarh to Delhi, while K.M. Priyanka (IPS, 2021 batch) has been posted to Jammu & Kashmir.

To fill the vacancies, Rajesh Kumar Sharma (IPS, 2014 batch) has been transferred from Jammu & Kashmir to Chandigarh, while Vinit Kumar (IPS, 2018 batch) has been shifted from Delhi to Chandigarh.

Key Responsibilities of Outgoing Officers

Before their transfer, Manjeet was overseeing Headquarters, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Crime and Communication.

Geetanjali Khandelwal was handling Operations, Cyber Crime and Vigilance, while K.M. Priyanka was in charge of City Division, Women and Child Support Helpline, and Intelligence.

With three IPS officers leaving and only two joining, Chandigarh Police’s sanctioned IPS strength has temporarily been reduced by one officer.

Part of Larger AGMUT Cadre Reshuffle

The Chandigarh transfers are part of a wider administrative reshuffle approved by the competent authority for officers belonging to the AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territories) cadre.

In the latest exercise, the Ministry of Home Affairs transferred 21 IAS officers and 40 IPS officers across various AGMUT cadre segments, including Delhi, Chandigarh, Jammu & Kashmir, Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram, Puducherry, Ladakh, Lakshadweep, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu (DNH&DD).

The transfers have been ordered with immediate effect and will remain in force until further orders.
