The Indian Army’s biannual Army Commanders’ Conference began on Wednesday, bringing senior military leadership together to review the evolving security environment, operational preparedness and the force’s future modernisation priorities.
Chaired by Chief of the Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth, the apex-level conference will continue until October 23, with discussions centred on emerging security challenges, capability development and building a technologically enabled, adaptable and future-ready force.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to deliver the concluding address and release the Land Warfare Doctrine, one of the key highlights of the conference. According to officials, the doctrine will provide an overarching framework to prepare the Army for the changing character of warfare and the challenges anticipated in future conflicts.
The conference will also feature sessions by the Chief of Defence Staff, the Chief of the Naval Staff and the Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology on contemporary security-related issues.
Singh is also scheduled to unveil the annual United Nations Journal and felicitate Army personnel for their contributions to UN peacekeeping missions. The recognition will acknowledge their professionalism and service in supporting international peace and security.
Separately, General Seth will confer awards recognising achievements in environmental sustainability, resource management and aviation safety. These include awards for Green Military Stations and Aviation Flight Safety.
The conference serves as a high-level forum for Army leadership to assess ongoing initiatives, review operational requirements and identify priorities for future development. Its deliberations are expected to inform policy decisions aimed at strengthening the Army’s preparedness amid rapid technological advancements and changing security challenges.
