President Droupadi Murmu will visit Chhattisgarh on October 22 and 23, with engagements in Raipur and Jagdalpur focusing on cultural traditions, community service, youth participation and tribal heritage.
On October 22, the President will be in Raipur, where she will release a commemorative coin honouring Mata Hasi Devi Ji at Lok Bhavan.
She will also attend the ‘Seva Samman Parv’ and ‘Yuva Prabodhan’ programmes organised in connection with the Nuakhai festival. The harvest festival holds cultural significance in the region and is associated with traditional customs and celebrations.
The programmes will highlight community service and youth engagement, alongside the observance of local cultural traditions.
On October 23, Murmu will travel to Jagdalpur in the Bastar region, where she will attend the Muriya Darbar, a traditional tribal assembly that forms an important part of the region’s cultural life.
She will subsequently participate in a public programme organised on the occasion of Bastar Dussehra, a distinctive festival rooted in the traditions of Bastar’s tribal communities.
Unlike Dussehra celebrations in many other parts of India, Bastar Dussehra is known for its unique rituals and extended observances, reflecting the region’s distinctive cultural heritage.
The President’s two-day itinerary will take her from the state capital to the tribal heartland of Bastar, bringing attention to Chhattisgarh’s diverse cultural and spiritual traditions.
