Tiya, a student of the School of Eminence, Mall Road, Amritsar, has brought recognition to Punjab after being selected as a National Finalist for the ‘Shakti Sat International Space Mission’, an international satellite initiative being organised by Space Kidz India with the support of ISRO.
The mission will bring together selected girl students from 108 countries. With her selection, Tiya will represent both India and Punjab at the international level.
As part of the programme, Tiya will attend a specialised workshop in New Delhi in August 2026, where she will receive training in satellite designing, integration and assembly. The satellite developed under the project is scheduled to be launched into the Moon’s orbit on October 11.
Punjab Public Works Minister S. Harbhajan Singh ETO felicitated Tiya at a special ceremony and congratulated her on the achievement.
Calling the selection a matter of immense pride for Amritsar and Punjab, Harbhajan Singh ETO said it was particularly encouraging to see a daughter of Amritsar preparing to showcase her talent on an international platform.
The Minister said daughters of Punjab were making their mark across diverse fields and expressed confidence that Tiya’s achievement would inspire other students, particularly young girls, to pursue science, technology and research.
He said the state government was committed to providing students with the necessary opportunities and facilities to excel in these fields.
Harbhajan Singh ETO also highlighted the achievements of the School of Eminence, Mall Road, in space science. He said students of the institution had contributed in 2022 by preparing payloads for two different satellite missions, adding that Tiya’s selection reflected the scientific spirit, dedication and hard work of both students and teachers.
The Minister congratulated Tiya’s parents, School of Eminence, Mall Road Principal Mandeep Kaur, and Chemistry Lecturer and Project In-charge Kamal Kumar for their contribution to her achievement.
He expressed confidence that Tiya would continue to bring laurels to Punjab and the country through her future accomplishments.
