Filmmaker Sudhir Mishra has approached the cyber crime department after allegedly losing access to his X account following a suspected hacking incident.
Mishra recently lodged a complaint with the cyber police at Oshiwara police station, stating that he was abruptly logged out of his X account, formerly known as Twitter, after an unauthorised person gained access to it.
In his complaint, Mishra said he received emails from X at around 12.53 a.m. informing him that someone had logged into his account using an iPhone. He alleged that the intruder subsequently added a security key and changed the registered email address associated with the account.
Mishra said the email address linked to his account was changed from his own email ID to another Outlook address, leaving him unable to regain access.
The filmmaker also said he contacted X seeking restoration of his account, but his request was rejected because the platform could not establish that the account belonged to him.
“Now I had registered a complaint to Twitter for regaining access but they denied stating that they cannot validate that this account is mine,” he said in his complaint.
The incident comes amid increasing reports of cyber-related targeting of public figures and celebrities.
Actress Kirti Kulhari recently reported losing Rs 2.43 lakh after alleged unauthorised access to her mobile phone and credit card. She told police that she had not shared her password, raising questions over how her financial information was accessed.
Actor Vikrant Massey has also said that cybercriminals targeted his family, alleging that his wife’s bank account was compromised and money was fraudulently withdrawn on two occasions.
Marathi actor Jaywant Wadkar, meanwhile, reported that his Instagram account was hacked and allegedly used to promote a fraudulent Bitcoin investment scheme among his followers.
