Delhi Police on Wednesday traced and safely recovered three girls, including two minors aged 17 and 13, who had gone missing from Gangnahar in Haridwar. The girls were found at a hotel in Delhi’s Paharganj area.
An FIR, numbered 349/2026 under Section 140(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), was registered at Gangnahar Police Station in Haridwar on September 8 following a complaint about the disappearance of the three girls. The information was subsequently shared with the Station House Officer of Nabi Karim Police Station in Delhi.
A dedicated team was formed under the supervision of Inspector/SHO Nabi Karim and the overall supervision of the ACP, Paharganj. The team comprised SI Neeraj Rathi, HC Jagsoran, Constable Amit and Woman Constable Supriya.
Acting on location inputs and information shared by Roorkee Police, the team conducted searches in the Arakashan Road and Paharganj areas. Police showed photographs of the girls to local residents and hotel staff and checked several hotels in the area.
The team also analysed mobile tower locations and IP-based inputs to identify their possible whereabouts. Technical surveillance eventually helped police narrow down the search area.
All three girls were subsequently traced to Hotel K.M. International on Arakashan Road in Paharganj and safely recovered.
During preliminary interaction with police, the girls reportedly said they had left home and travelled to Delhi due to family pressure regarding marriage. They allegedly wanted to avoid marriage, look for employment opportunities in Delhi and earn money independently. After reaching Delhi, they stayed at a hotel in Paharganj.
The recovered girls were identified as S, born on September 10, 2007, and aged about 18 years; S, born on January 1, 2009, and aged about 17 years; and N, born on January 1, 2013, and aged about 13 years.
After completing the necessary formalities, the three girls were handed over to officials of Gangnahar Police Station for further legal action.
Further investigation and legal proceedings are being conducted by the concerned Uttarakhand Police officials.
