Actress Aamrapali Dubey has revealed that her entry into Bhojpuri cinema was the result of an unexpected chain of events, crediting Bigg Boss for bringing her together with Bhojpuri superstar Dinesh Lal Yadav, popularly known as Nirahua.
Aamrapali, who is currently participating in Bigg Boss 20, recalled during a conversation with fellow housemates how her television connection with actor Santosh Shukla eventually led to her being considered for Nirahua Hindustani.
Dinesh Lal Yadav had participated in Bigg Boss 6, where he interacted with Shukla. Aamrapali had previously worked with Shukla on television.
“Dinesh Lal Yadav came in Bigg Boss season 6. Nirahua. Santosh Shukla was there in that season. I worked with Santosh Shukla on television,” she recalled.
According to Aamrapali, Dinesh had discussed an upcoming film with Shukla and said he was looking for a newcomer who could connect with the Bhojpuri audience.
“And here Dinesh was talking to Santosh Shukla that I am going to make a very big film. And I want to bring a debutant in it, who will be accepted by our industry. He was looking for a girl for Nirahua Hindustani,” she said.
Describing the development as destiny, Aamrapali said, “That’s God’s screenplay. I always say this. And Bigg Boss has been my casting agency for it. So he brought us together and that’s how Nirahua Hindustani happened.”
The actress initially had no plans to pursue a career in Bhojpuri cinema and intended to treat the project as a one-off film.
“After that I thought I will do only one film. I will leave it. What is the need? I don’t want to do it,” she said.
However, the success of Nirahua Hindustani changed her mind. Released in 2014, the film reportedly ran for 50 days in nearly 98 per cent of the theatres where it was released.
The response made Aamrapali reconsider her plans. “After that I thought I am getting more money and love here. I will stay here. After that I never turned back,” she said.
Nirahua Hindustani marked Aamrapali’s Bhojpuri film debut, with the actress starring opposite Dinesh Lal Yadav. The film also featured Sanjay Pandey, Ayaz Khan, Gopal Rai and Kiran Yadav in pivotal roles.
Before entering Bhojpuri cinema, Aamrapali had established herself on Hindi television with shows including Saat Phere: Saloni Ka Safar, Maayka, Mera Naam Karegi Roshan and Rehna Hai Teri Palkon Ki Chhaon Mein. She also appeared in Fear Files: Darr Ki Sacchi Tasvirein, Haunted Nights and Arjun.
Following her debut, she became one of Bhojpuri cinema’s prominent leading actresses, appearing in films such as Patna Se Pakistan, Nirahua Rikshawala 2, Jigarwala, Raja Babu, Bam Bam Bol Raha Hai Kashi, Nirahua Chalal Sasural 2, Mokama 0 Kilometer and Nirahua Hindustani 2.
Her professional association with Dinesh Lal Yadav subsequently developed into one of Bhojpuri cinema’s popular on-screen pairings, with the two appearing together in several films.
