Mohali Police solves Blind Murder Case with Arrest of 2 accused: SSP Deepak Pareek

In a breakthrough, the District SAS Nagar Police has resolved the blind murder case reported on November 7, 2024, near Chhat Lights in Zirakpur and arrested two accused, said the Senior Superintendent of Police, Deepak Pareek, here, while addressing a press conference on Friday.

Case Background:

On November 11, 2024, a case (FIR No. 499 Dated 11-11-2024 Under Sections 103, 3(5) of BNS) was registered at Police Station Zirakpur on the statement of Pramod Singh, a resident of Rajpura, who reported the brutal murder of his brother, Rana Pratap Singh, a field officer at Noor Security Services, Zirakpur.

The deceased was last seen leaving for Zirakpur on his motorcycle (PB39-L-8123) on November 7, 2024. After that on November 11, 2024, His body found near Chhat Lights, was in a decomposed state, with hands and legs tied. The post-mortem revealed the cause of death as head injuries inflicted by a blunt object.

Investigation and Breakthrough:

The operation was supervised by Dr. Jyoti Yadav IPS (SP Inv.), Sh. Manpreet Singh PPS (SP, Rural), Sh. Talwinder Singh PPS (SP, Investigation), and Sh. Jaspinder Singh, PPS (SP Zirakpur).

The investigation team, led by CIA Staff Incharge Inspector Harminder Singh and Inspector Jaskamal Singh Sekhon of PS Zirakpur, used technical inputs and human intelligence to solve the case.

Details of the Arrested Accused:

1. Sahil Kumar (23 years), R/o Kurukshetra, Haryana, currently staying at Alpha Floors, Aerocity, Mohali.Education: Class 12 Pass, Marital status: married. (Arrested from Aerocity, Sector-83, Mohali).

2. Charanjit Singh alias Charan (22 years), a resident of Balbir Nagar, Old Delhi, currently residing in LIC Colony, Kharar, SAS Nagar.Education: pursuing BCA (2nd Year) privately from Swami Vivekananda College, Marital status: unmarried. (Arrested from LIC Colony, Kharar).

Interrogation Details:

During interrogation, it was revealed that the accused had met approximately three months ago during interviews at a tele-performance company in Sector-83, Mohali.

After this, the accused, working together, had previously carried out incidents of robbery and theft on the Airport Road. They had been involved in previous robbery cases on Airport Road. On the night of 07/08-11-2024, the accused planned to commit another robbery at Chhat Lights.

Spotting Rana Pratap Singh on the service road, the accused threatened him with sharp weapons, forced him to an isolated location, and attempted to extract his phone and Google Pay passwords.

When he resisted, they brutally attacked him with a brick, tied his hands and legs, and killed him. Subsequently, the accused transferred ₹10,66,000 from Rana Pratap Singh’s account to Sahil Kumar’s account using the Reedy Book app.

Additional Crimes Revealed:

1. On September 29, 2024, they robbed ₹28,220 from Vikas Dagar near Aerocity.FIR No. 433, dated 30-09-2024, was registered under Sections 118(1), 309(6), 127, and 3(5) BNS based on a complaint by Vikas Dagar.

2. Approximately 1.5 months ago, in mid-October, they robbed ₹50,000 from a Fortuner driver near Zirakpur, after pretending to assist him.

Recovered Items:

The deceased Rana Pratap Singh’s mobile phone, which the accused used to transfer ₹10,66,000 to Sahil Kumar’s (accused) account via the Reedy Book app.

The accused were presented before the Hon’ble Court today, and police remand has been obtained for further investigation.

Mohali Police has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the citizens.
