Two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu claimed her second title of the season after defeating Denmark’s Line Hojmark Kjærsfeldt in straight games to win the Hylo Open Super 500 badminton tournament in Germany on Sunday.
The second-seeded Indian, currently ranked world No. 8, needed 39 minutes to beat the eighth-seeded Dane 21-12, 21-14 in the final of the USD 500,000 event.
Sindhu controlled the contest with her attacking strokes, deceptive shot-making and effective net play, denying her world No. 25 opponent an opportunity to mount a sustained challenge.
The victory added to Sindhu’s Japan Open title in July. She had also reached the final of the French Open last week before finishing runner-up.
The Indian earned 9,200 ranking points from the Hylo Open triumph, strengthening her campaign to qualify for the season-ending BWF World Tour Finals.
Sindhu entered the final with a 6-1 career head-to-head advantage over Kjærsfeldt. The Dane’s only previous win against her had come at the 2025 Sudirman Cup Finals.
Sindhu made a confident start, although a few unforced errors initially allowed Kjærsfeldt to stay level at 3-3. The Indian then took charge through sharp returns and precise net play, opening up an 8-5 lead and maintaining control to close the first game 21-12.
She carried the momentum into the second game, moving ahead 6-3 before the Dane attempted to narrow the gap. Sindhu responded with a series of winners and extended her advantage to 17-11.
An attacking return gave Sindhu six championship points. She converted the first when Kjærsfeldt made another error at the net, sealing the title in straight games.
