Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has praised singer Sunidhi Chauhan’s performance at a concert in Guwahati, citing the enthusiastic audience response and the smooth arrangements made for crowd management.
In a post on X on Sunday, Sarma described Chauhan’s performance at G-Town on Saturday as “scintillating” and congratulated the organisers and everyone involved in ensuring the event proceeded smoothly.
The Chief Minister also highlighted Guwahati’s expanding concert calendar, pointing to a series of upcoming performances by prominent Indian and international artistes.
“Missed it? We have several more,” Sarma said, naming singers Shreya Ghoshal, Mohit Chauhan and Sonu Nigam among those scheduled to perform in the city.
He also mentioned international rock band Guns N’ Roses and British virtual band Gorillaz as upcoming attractions.
“The concert scene here is just heating up,” he said.
The Chief Minister’s social media post included visuals from Chauhan’s concert, showing spectators singing along to her performance. An accompanying message described the audience as a virtual chorus, with fans joining in on more than half of the songs performed on stage.
The response to the event comes as Guwahati seeks to expand its presence on India’s live entertainment circuit. The upcoming concerts are expected to bring more large-scale music events to Assam’s capital and attract audiences from neighbouring states.
Sarma’s remarks also highlighted the potential of live entertainment to contribute to the state’s cultural and tourism profile.
