Hoshiarpur, November 2, 2026 (Yes Punja News)
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday conducted searches at the residence of senior Congress leader and former Punjab Cabinet Minister Sunder Sham Arora in Hoshiarpur, with Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel accompanying the investigating team.
According to preliminary information, ED officials arrived at Arora’s residence around 5 am in three to four vehicles and began the search operation.
CRPF personnel were deployed at the premises while officials of the central investigating agency carried out searches inside the house.
Arora, a former MLA from Hoshiarpur, was reportedly present at his residence when the operation was underway.
The exact reason for the ED action and the case in connection with which the searches were being conducted had not been officially disclosed at the time of filing this report.
Earlier Searches by Income Tax Department
This is not the first time Arora has faced searches by investigating agencies.
In January 2026, Income Tax Department officials conducted searches at his residence on Jodhamal Road in Hoshiarpur.
The operation reportedly continued for approximately 62 hours, during which officials examined documents and questioned the former minister.
Following the searches, Arora addressed a press conference and clarified that the action had been undertaken by the Income Tax Department and not the Enforcement Directorate.
Previous Vigilance Bureau Case
Arora has also faced corruption-related allegations in a case investigated by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau.
He was earlier arrested by the Vigilance Bureau on allegations of attempting to bribe a vigilance official with ₹50 lakh.
The case is pending before a court.
The former minister has faced scrutiny from different investigating agencies over the years, although the nature and scope of the latest ED action remain unclear.
ED Yet to Disclose Details
The fresh searches at Arora’s residence have attracted attention in political circles in Hoshiarpur.
The search operation was continuing at the time of filing this report.
The Enforcement Directorate had not issued any official statement regarding the case under investigation or disclosed whether any documents or other material had been seized during the operation.
