Tehran, November 2, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy has claimed that two oil tankers, including a supertanker, suffered explosions after hitting naval mines in the Strait of Hormuz, accusing the vessels of using an unauthorised shipping route.

In a statement published on its official outlet Sepah News on Sunday, the IRGC Navy described the tankers as “violating” vessels and said both had been stopped following the explosions.

The statement claimed that the supertanker had suffered a massive explosion and was burning. It also alleged that both vessels had switched off their navigation and identification systems. No further details about the vessels, their crews or the extent of the damage were provided in the statement.

Iran tightened restrictions on passage through the strategic waterway on February 28, barring safe passage for vessels it considers affiliated with Israel and the United States following joint strikes on Iranian territory.

Separately, IRGC spokesperson Hossein Mohebbi said Iranian forces were prepared to respond decisively to any threat and had identified a wider battlefield to inflict damage on their adversaries.

Speaking at a conference in southeastern Kerman province on Sunday, Mohebbi referred to recent instructions from Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei to senior military commanders, saying the guidance had opened a “new chapter of war”.

He said the Supreme Leader had stressed that there were no geographical limits to the conflict with the United States. Mohebbi added that the IRGC was working to identify new targets and plan operations in additional geographical regions.

A statement issued on Saturday said Khamenei had directed military commanders to ensure that any threat from Iran’s adversaries was met with an immediate and effective response, without geographical limitations.

The statements come amid heightened tensions and reported US preparations for possible military action against Iran. US President Donald Trump was reportedly briefed by senior military officials on options concerning Iran last Thursday.

The United States has also reportedly asked several Gulf countries to prepare for a possible short but intense military campaign against Iran following the US midterm elections.
