Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday shared key excerpts from her brother and senior party leader Rahul Gandhi’s speech at a mock Parliament organised by the INDIA bloc, highlighting his allegations of large-scale voter deletion and electoral manipulation.

In a post on her official X account, Priyanka condemned what she described as the large-scale deletion of voters and shared Rahul Gandhi’s remarks that “stealing votes” was an assault on the soul of the nation. She did not participate in the event.

Speaking at the programme, organised as a symbolic public impeachment against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence, Rahul Gandhi said those responsible for alleged vote theft could not escape accountability.

“Stealing votes is no ordinary crime; it is an assault on the soul of the nation. Those who have committed this act cannot be saved by anyone. We will never allow the voices of the country’s millions of citizens to be suppressed,” he said.

Rahul Gandhi asserted that any attempt to silence people or manipulate the electoral process would be strongly resisted. He also alleged that 13.3 crore voters had been deleted from electoral rolls.

The mock Parliament was organised by the INDIA bloc to raise concerns over the functioning of the Election Commission and alleged irregularities in electoral rolls. Former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar presided over the proceedings, while Kharge initiated the symbolic exercise.

Priyanka Gandhi’s post highlighted the Opposition’s continuing campaign against what it calls “vote chori”.

Rahul Gandhi said the voices of ordinary citizens must not be suppressed and asserted that the Opposition would continue raising the issue both inside and outside Parliament.

The event was part of a series of programmes planned by the INDIA bloc, including a rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan.

Opposition leaders said safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process was essential to protecting democracy.
