Two young friends, including the son of Speed Records owner Dinesh Auluck, were killed in a tragic road accident in Jalandhar early Sunday morning when their Volkswagen car collided with a Municipal Corporation tractor-trolley parked on a flyover.
The deceased have been identified as Divit Auluck, son of Dinesh Auluck, owner of Speed Records music company, and Aarav Talwar, son of the owner of the well-known Pappi Sweets establishment in Jalandhar. Both were reportedly around 18 to 19 years old.
The accident occurred around 3 am on the flyover near Police Lines, while the car was travelling from BMC Chowk towards BSF Chowk.
According to available information, five young friends were returning home after attending a birthday party when their car crashed into a tractor-trolley parked on the flyover for municipal sanitation work.
Municipal Corporation employees were reportedly cleaning the flyover at the time, and the tractor-trolley had been stationed there to collect garbage.
The collision was so severe that the two youths died at the scene. The car was badly damaged in the impact.
Baradari Police Station SHO Sahil Chaudhary said the police received information about the accident around 3 am, following which a police team reached the spot.
According to the SHO, five youths were travelling in the car at the time of the accident. However, the three other occupants had reportedly returned to their homes before the police arrived.
The police took possession of the bodies and initiated proceedings following the accident.
Families Decline Legal Action
SHO Sahil Chaudhary said the families of the deceased expressed their unwillingness to pursue legal action in connection with the accident.
According to the information available, the families also requested that post-mortem examinations not be conducted.
Following the families’ requests, the bodies were handed over to their relatives on Sunday morning.
The accident has raised concerns about the safety of vehicles and sanitation equipment stationed on flyovers during late-night cleaning operations.
However, it remains unclear whether adequate warning lights, reflectors or other safety precautions were in place around the parked tractor-trolley when the collision occurred.
