Punjab Public Works Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO has directed department officials to accelerate ongoing road development projects and ensure their completion within निर्धारित timelines, with particular emphasis on improving road safety ahead of the winter fog season.
Chairing a review meeting at Punjab Bhawan, the minister assessed the constituency-wise and division-wise progress of state highways and link road projects being executed under the Public Works Department (PWD).
He instructed officers to meet the stipulated targets for projects funded under various schemes, including SASCI, the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) and NABARD. With winter approaching, he stressed the need to expedite pending work to avoid delays.
The minister also directed officials to ensure that lane markings and other road-safety equipment were installed on all remaining roads to improve visibility and reduce risks for commuters during foggy conditions.
Harbhajan Singh ETO said the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab Government was committed to strengthening the state’s transport infrastructure and providing better road connectivity to residents.
He added that construction and renovation work covering 45,000 km of roads was being undertaken across Punjab.
Joint Secretary Amarbir Sidhu, Engineer-in-Chief Gagandeep Singh, Chief Engineer Arshdeep Singh, supervising engineers and executive engineers attended the review meeting.
