Actor Rajat Sukhija says nostalgia for college friendships, young love and the memories associated with student life drew him to the upcoming romantic entertainer Pehla Pyaar Doosri Baar, adding that director-producer Luv Ranjan’s association with the project was a major factor in his decision to join the film.
Speaking about what appealed to him, Rajat said the film captures the emotions of a phase of life that people often revisit through familiar songs, places and cherished memories.
“What I really enjoy about ‘Pehla Pyaar Doosri Baar’ is the sense of nostalgia it evokes regarding college friendships, young love, and the memories that remain with you after that particular phase of life is over,” he said.
The actor also highlighted his admiration for Ranjan and the cinematic world he has created.
“To be honest, it was the name Luv Ranjan that led me to say yes to this film. I believe that every actor would want to take part in the world that Luv Ranjan has created and in the legacy he has established,” Rajat said, describing the opportunity as one he was happy to accept.
The project also prompted him to look back on his own college years at Aurobindo College, University of Delhi, where he served as president of the Dramatics Society.
Recalling those days, Rajat said his evenings were often spent rehearsing and performing. He credited his supportive teachers with helping him balance theatre and academics, adding that he topped his first year.
The actor said he still misses the simpler joys of college life and revealed that his batch has yet to organise a reunion. He expressed hope that the film might inspire one.
Presented by Luv Films and produced by Luv Ranjan, Pehla Pyaar Doosri Baar marks the debut of several actors, including Sparsh Walia, Alisha Chopra, Kunal Vaid, Sakshi Vaidya, Tushar Chhibber and Sargun Kaur Luthra.
