Mumbai, October 19, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Bollywood couple Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif have often delighted fans with glimpses of their relationship. Their wedding in December 2021, held according to Hindu traditions in Rajasthan, was a major talking point, and Vicky recently recalled a humorous incident from the celebrations involving the traditional ‘Joota Chupai’ ritual.

Appearing on The Kapil Sharma Show, the ‘Chhaava’ actor revealed how Katrina intervened when her sisters demanded a substantial amount of money from him in exchange for returning his wedding shoes.

‘Joota Chupai’ is a popular North Indian wedding custom in which the bride’s sisters, cousins and friends hide the groom’s shoes before the wedding rituals. After the pheras, the groom is expected to pay a customary amount, known as neg, to get his footwear back.

Recalling the incident, Vicky said Katrina’s sisters tried to take his shoes as he was heading towards the mandap, while his brothers attempted to stop them. However, Vicky told them to take whatever they wanted, after which the shoes were hidden.

The situation took an unexpected turn when the wedding pheras were over. Katrina wanted to take photographs before sunset, but the sun was setting and Vicky still did not have his shoes.

Vicky recalled that Katrina scolded her sisters, asking where his shoes were. She eventually recovered the footwear, and, according to the actor, he got his shoes back without paying any neg.

Vicky and Katrina tied the knot on December 9, 2021, in Rajasthan after dating for some time. The couple welcomed their first child, son Vihaan, on November 7, 2025.
