Former India cricket captain Sourav Ganguly is set to make his return to television hosting after a decade, this time as the host of the Bengali edition of the popular reality show ‘Bigg Boss’.
Ganguly will lead ‘Bigg Boss Bangla’, marking his first association with the ‘Bigg Boss’ franchise and Endemol Shine India.
Reflecting on his return to television hosting, Ganguly said the project offered him a new experience after 10 years. He also highlighted the scale and reach of the ‘Bigg Boss’ franchise across India.
“Bigg Boss is the biggest show in the country and has always stood apart because of the scale of its audience and the way the franchise has travelled across languages,” Ganguly said.
“I have done many shows on TV but never hosted this, so joining Endemol Shine India for the first time and leading its Bengali edition with Bigg Boss Bangla, after ten years is a wonderful new experience,” he added.
Ganguly has previously hosted and presented several television programmes during his career. However, ‘Bigg Boss Bangla’ will mark his debut as a host within the reality show’s franchise.
Meanwhile, the Hindi edition of ‘Bigg Boss’ is preparing for its landmark 20th season, with superstar Salman Khan continuing as its host.
The new season is scheduled to premiere on September 5 and will feature the franchise’s familiar mix of contestants, tasks, confrontations and unexpected twists.
The makers have positioned the 20th season as a milestone for the long-running reality show and have introduced new elements inside the ‘Bigg Boss’ house. Among the additions is a two XL room, along with other entertainment-oriented elements.
