Actress and television personality Sunita Ahuja has weighed in on the much-discussed friendship between actors Shivangi Joshi and Harshad Chopda during their stint on Lock Upp 2, saying close bonds can naturally develop between co-stars who spend considerable time working together.
In a video shared by Balaji Telefilms, Sunita said actors often spend long hours with their co-stars while shooting, which can lead to a strong personal connection.
Drawing a comparison with Bollywood, she said male actors can sometimes spend more time with their female co-stars than with their wives, making such bonding a natural outcome of their professional environment.
Sunita also dismissed suggestions that Shivangi was “using” Harshad, saying she saw nothing unusual about the two developing a close friendship after working together.
She recalled Shivangi telling her that her mother would send home-cooked food and look after her needs while she was shooting. Sunita said such gestures are a normal part of human relationships and should not necessarily be viewed negatively.
Addressing speculation about a possible romantic relationship between the two actors, Sunita said performing romantic scenes can create a degree of comfort and bonding between co-stars, but that should not automatically be labelled an affair.
“If you’re doing romantic scenes, somewhere a bond does develop,” she said, while adding that their personal lives should be respected and outsiders should not make assumptions about their relationship.
Sunita further said she had always found both Harshad and Shivangi to be good to her and had never viewed their equation from a romantic perspective.
The friendship between Shivangi and Harshad became a talking point during Lock Upp 2, with their emotional moments and close camaraderie prompting speculation among viewers. The two actors, however, have maintained that they are good friends.
Sunita’s remarks come amid renewed public interest in her personal life and her relationship with actor Govinda. The couple’s marriage has been the subject of public disagreements, with both sides making allegations against each other.
