Punjab Fully Geared Up for Smooth, Hassle-Free Paddy Procurement in Kharif Season: CM Bhagwant Mann

Chandigarh, September 2, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The Punjab Government has put in place comprehensive arrangements for smooth, hassle-free and timely procurement of paddy during the upcoming Kharif Marketing Season 2026-27, with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann directing all concerned departments and procurement agencies to remain fully prepared.

Chairing a high-level meeting to review the preparations, Mann said every grain produced through the hard work of Punjab’s farmers would be procured and lifted without delay.

The Chief Minister said 5.09 lakh bales would be required during the procurement season and arrangements were already being made to ensure their timely availability. He added that the state government had sent a proposal to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for authorisation of the Cash Credit Limit (CCL) and was following up with the State Bank of India and RBI. The CCL is expected to be authorised shortly, he said.

Mann said around 180 lakh metric tonnes of paddy is expected to arrive in Punjab during the 2026-27 season. Deputy Commissioners, CPs, SSPs, the Mandi Board and the Police Department have been directed to maintain strict vigil and prevent the inflow of paddy from other states.

“Farmers have never faced any problem in selling their grain during the last four years and this legacy will be upheld,” Mann said, adding that efforts were being made to ensure quick procurement and timely payments to farmers.

The Chief Minister said no farmer should face inconvenience while selling produce in the mandis. “Every grain produced with the sweat and toil of the Punjabi farmer shall be purchased. If any farmer is put to any sort of inconvenience, strict action will be taken against the concerned officials,” he asserted.

Mann directed state procurement agencies to ensure foolproof arrangements at the micro level and said he would personally monitor the procurement process.

“Every single grain of the farmers will be procured and lifted without any delay,” the Chief Minister said.

Chief Secretary KAP Sinha, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr Ravi Bhagat, Principal Secretary Food and Civil Supplies Rahul Tiwari, Director Food and Civil Supplies Varinder Sharma and other senior officials attended the meeting.
