The Haryana Government has appointed senior advocate Pawan Kumar Mutneja as the Advocate General of the state with immediate effect.
The appointment comes after the office fell vacant following the appointment of Pravindra Kumar Chauhan as an Additional Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
According to a notification issued by the Haryana Government on August 21, the Governor, exercising powers conferred under Article 165(1) of the Constitution of India, appointed Mutneja, a Senior Advocate at the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chandigarh, as Advocate General for Haryana with immediate effect.
The notification said the terms and conditions of his appointment would be issued separately.
Mutneja has previously served the Haryana Government as Additional Advocate General from 1996 to 1999.
An alumnus of The Lawrence School, Sanawar, Mutneja studied at Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi, before pursuing law from Rajasthan University.
During his legal career, he has handled matters across a wide range of areas, including civil, criminal and company law, land acquisition, arbitration, consumer protection and service laws.
He has also appeared before the Supreme Court of India and several High Courts, including the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Delhi High Court, Himachal Pradesh High Court and Uttarakhand High Court.
