The Rajasthan government has carried out a major late-night administrative reshuffle involving 26 IAS and 53 RAS officers, with the changes coming ahead of the expected implementation of the Model Code of Conduct for the upcoming urban local body elections.
As part of the exercise, 14 trainee IAS officers have been appointed as Officers on Special Duty (OSDs) in the offices of District Election Officers across several districts.
The transfers follow a directive from the State Election Commission asking the government to shift officers who have remained posted at the same location for three years or more. Several RAS officers were also transferred last week.
The latest reshuffle affects several development authorities, Urban Improvement Trusts (UITs), municipal bodies and district-level positions.
Nitya K., who was serving as Commissioner of the Ajmer Development Authority, has been appointed Joint Secretary in the Energy Department. Rashmi Rani, CEO of the Jaisalmer Zila Parishad, will succeed her as Commissioner of the Ajmer Development Authority.
Girdhar, CEO of the Sri Ganganagar Zila Parishad, has been appointed CEO of the Bhiwadi Integrated Development Authority (BIDA), while Utsah Chaudhary, Commissioner of the Jodhpur Development Authority, has been posted as Joint Secretary in the Disaster Management Department.
Dhaygude Sneh Nana, Secretary of the Alwar UIT, has been appointed Commissioner of the Bikaner Development Authority. Gaurav Budania, CEO of the Sawai Madhopur Zila Parishad, will take charge as Commissioner of the Ajmer Municipal Corporation.
Shalukhe Gaurav Ravindra, CEO of the Alwar Zila Parishad, has been transferred as Secretary of the Bhilwara UIT.
Six IAS officers awaiting posting orders have also been assigned new responsibilities. Lalit Goyal has been appointed Joint Secretary in the Public Works Department, Abhishek Jain as CEO of the Sri Ganganagar Zila Parishad, Pritam Kumar as CEO of the Udaipur Zila Parishad, Saksham Goyal as Joint Secretary in the Water Supply Department, Bhesare Shubham Ashok as CEO of the Jaipur Zila Parishad, and Pratibha Daya as CEO of the Karauli Zila Parishad.
Kaluram has been appointed Registrar of Rajasthan University. He was placed on Awaiting Posting Orders status on August 12 after serving as Special Assistant to Rajasthan Minister of State for Energy Hiralal Nagar.
Kailash Chand Sharma, Additional Registrar of the Revenue Board, has been appointed Secretary of the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education, a post that had reportedly remained vacant for some time.
Three RAS officers — Ashu Chaudhary, Ranjita Gautam and Suresh Kumar Rao — have been placed on Awaiting Posting Orders status. Mahavir Singh-II, Additional District Magistrate of Karauli, has been appointed Secretary of the Rajasthan Textbook Board, replacing Ranjita Gautam.
The reshuffle comes as the Model Code of Conduct for the urban local body elections is expected to be enforced shortly. The Department of Personnel has directed transferred officers to join their new assignments immediately.
District Collectors and Heads of Departments have also been instructed to relieve the transferred officers without delay. The orders warn of disciplinary action against officers who fail to comply.
