Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLA Bhai Virendra has reaffirmed his loyalty to party supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, saying he could have held the post of Deputy Chief Minister had he abandoned the party during its difficult phase.
Amid reports of differences within the RJD, Bhai Virendra said he was aware of attempts to target him politically but did not consider it necessary to respond to every allegation.
Recalling a challenging period for the RJD, he said the party had once been reduced to just 22 MLAs, while several leaders had left the organisation. He said he chose to remain with Lalu Prasad despite the political difficulties.
“Had I also left the party back then, the scenario today would have been different. It is possible that I, rather than Bijendra Prasad Yadav, would have been the Deputy Chief Minister today. However, I have made great sacrifices to remain with the party and Lalu Prasad Yadav,” he said.
The RJD leader maintained that his association with the party was driven by commitment to its ideology rather than the pursuit of political positions.
He said his objective was to take the RJD’s ideology and principles to every village in Bihar and expressed his desire to see Tejashwi Yadav become the state’s Chief Minister.
Bhai Virendra also sought to dismiss recent political speculation triggered by a photograph showing him meeting Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary.
He said the meeting was related to regional development issues and should not be interpreted as a political move or a sign of any change in his allegiance.
The MLA’s remarks come amid continued speculation about internal dynamics within the RJD, with Bhai Virendra once again stressing his long-standing association with Lalu Prasad and his commitment to the party.
