MEA Fact-Checks Viral Post Misrepresenting Spokesperson’s Remarks on Jantar Mantar Protest

New Delhi, July 25, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Saturday rejected a viral social media post that claimed the government had ruled out any foreign involvement in the youth protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, stating that the remarks of its spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal had been misrepresented.

The clarification was issued through the MEA’s official FactCheck handle, which described the post shared by an X account named “PulseNewsBreaking” as misleading.

“The post is misleading and misrepresents the statement of the Spokesperson,” the MEA said.

The ministry clarified that during a recent biweekly media briefing, Jaiswal had not confirmed or denied allegations regarding foreign funding or involvement in the ongoing protests. Instead, he had stated that he did not have any information to share on the matter at that time.

“Regarding the point you raised about allegations of foreign funding and other such claims in connection with the ongoing protests, I would like to say that I do not have any information on this matter to share with you at this time,” Jaiswal was quoted as saying by the MEA.

The viral post, originally written in Telugu, carried the headline “No Pakistan Funding, No Hand of Chinese Agents” and claimed that the Central government had clarified there was no foreign role in the protests.

It further alleged that there was no evidence of foreign involvement and accused social media users of spreading false propaganda by linking the protest to external forces.

The MEA said these claims incorrectly portrayed the spokesperson’s response and clarified that no such statement had been made by the ministry.
