Government Flags AI-Generated Fake Video Falsely Attributed to CDS Gen Subramani

New Delhi, July 25, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The Press Information Bureau’s (PIB) Fact Check unit on Saturday debunked an AI-generated video being circulated by Pakistani propaganda accounts that falsely attributed remarks to Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General N.S. Raja Subramani regarding the ongoing student protests at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.

In a post on X, PIB Fact Check said the manipulated video falsely claimed that 30,000 Indian Army personnel had resigned over the protests and clarified that the CDS had made no such statement.

Calling the clip “fake and AI-generated,” the government urged citizens to remain vigilant against online misinformation and rely only on verified official sources for authentic information.

PIB Fact Check also asked people to report suspicious content related to the Government of India through its official fact-checking channels.

The fabricated video showed the CDS purportedly appealing for leniency towards protesting students and claiming that thousands of Army personnel had resigned because of alleged police action against their children. PIB categorically rejected these claims as false.

To expose the misinformation, the fact-check unit shared the original video from which the manipulated clip had been created. In the authentic footage, General Subramani is seen inviting people to attend the IndianOil Durand Cup football tournament, scheduled to be held from July 25 to August 23 across Kolkata, Imphal, Shillong, Guwahati and Ranchi.

The original address contains no reference to student protests, resignations or any political issue, PIB said.
