Amritsar, July 8, 2025 (Yes Punjab News):
In a shocking incident that has rocked Amritsar, an Akali Dal leader and former Sarpanch Parwinder Singh Pappu was shot dead late Monday night following a heated argument over a parking issue with his immediate neighbor.
The fatal shooting took place around midnight in Shiva Enclave, an urban locality of Amritsar where Pappu had been residing. According to police sources, the accused, identified as Sehajpal, allegedly opened fire on Pappu after a long-standing dispute escalated suddenly. He was reportedly accompanied by his wife during the assault.
Pappu, who previously served as the Sarpanch of Saidpur village near Rajasansi, was a Senior Vice President of the Akali Dal’s Amritsar unit and known for his strong grassroots presence in the region.
Both Sehajpal and his wife have been booked for murder, and a case has been registered at the local police station. Authorities confirmed that both suspects are currently on the run. Unofficial reports suggest that a Lookout Circular (LoC) has been issued to prevent them from fleeing the country.
Law enforcement is reviewing CCTV footage and speaking to witnesses to piece together the events that led to the tragic killing. The local community has expressed outrage, demanding swift justice and better neighborhood policing to prevent similar confrontations.
This incident adds to growing concerns about rising urban disputes turning deadly in Punjab, especially when involving high-profile individuals.
