An Interfaith Conclave dedicated to the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji with Chief Guest Vice President of India Sh. CP Radhakrishnan was organised today at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, by the World Punjabi Organisation and Global Interfaith Harmony Foundation, under the leadership of its International President Dr. Vikramjit Singh Sahney, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha.
The conclave brought together eminent spiritual leaders from Sikhism, Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, and Jainism to reaffirm India’s civilisational ethos of religious freedom, pluralism, and peaceful coexistence.
Vice President of India, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, paid tribute to Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, describing his martyrdom as the moral foundation of India’s secular democracy.
He noted that Guru Ji’s sacrifice in 1675 symbolised courage in defence of religious freedom and highlighted that the conclave reflected India’s civilisational ethos of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. The Vice President stressed that interfaith dialogue is essential in addressing intolerance and fostering unity in a diverse nation.
In his address, Dr. Vikramjit Singh Sahney recalled the supreme sacrifice of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji as a landmark moment in the global history of human rights. He stated that religious freedom is the foundation of a civilised society and emphasised that Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s martyrdom was not for one faith alone, but to uphold the right of every individual to practise their religion without fear and that was the true spirit of Secularism.
“In today’s divided times, Guru Ji’s message calls for interfaith harmony as the basis of peace and human dignity.” Dr. Sahney added
The conclave featured distinguished speakers including Namdhari Satguru Uday Singh Ji, HH Jain Acharya Lokesh Muni Ji, Haji Syed Salman Chishty Ji of Ajmer Sharif, Rev. Fr. Monodeep Daniel Ji, HH Mohan Rupa Das Ji of ISKCON Delhi, and Sardar Tarlochan Singh Ji.
