The Sikh Human Development Foundation (SHDF), USA, in collaboration with the Nishkam Sikh Welfare Council, on Friday awarded scholarships to deserving students of Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) during a ceremony held in the University’s Syndicate Room.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Karamjeet Singh, along with S. Gurbir Singh Brar, Executive Director of the Sikh Human Development Foundation, USA, presented scholarship cheques to the selected students. The financial assistance has been provided by the Foundation to support the higher education of meritorious students from economically weaker backgrounds.
Congratulating the awardees, Prof. Karamjeet Singh expressed gratitude to the Sikh Human Development Foundation and the Nishkam Sikh Welfare Council for their continued support in promoting higher education among deserving students. He said such initiatives not only help students overcome financial constraints but also motivate them to excel academically and contribute meaningfully to society.
The Vice-Chancellor reaffirmed Guru Nanak Dev University’s commitment to academic excellence and holistic student development, stating that the institution continues to provide deserving students with academic, financial and institutional support to help them pursue higher education and realise their aspirations.
The scholarship recipients included Amit Sharma, Vishavpreet Singh, Gurkirat Singh, Komalpreet Kaur, Harmanbir Kaur, Komal, Sameet Kaur, Komalbir Kaur and Agampreet Singh, representing various teaching departments and constituent colleges of the University.
Earlier, Prof. H.S. Saini, Dean Academic Affairs, welcomed the guests and highlighted the University’s efforts under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Karamjeet Singh to build an inclusive, student-centric and excellence-oriented academic environment.
Prof. K.S. Chahal, Registrar, proposed the vote of thanks. The function was attended by Deans, Heads of Departments, faculty members and students.
