Salman Khan’s much-awaited war drama ‘Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace’, earlier titled ‘Battle of Galwan’, is nearing completion, with the makers expected to announce its release date after the film is reviewed by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
The film has generated considerable anticipation among moviegoers with each update. According to sources close to the project, most of the work on the film has been completed, with only some visual effects (VFX) portions still in progress.
“Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace is almost ready. Just a few portions of the VFX are still in process, and the film is going to offer an absolutely spectacular theatrical experience like never before,” a source said.
The source added that the release date would be announced once all relevant departments, including the CBFC, have watched the film. As of now, the censor board has not screened the movie, and further updates are expected once the project reaches its final stage ahead of its theatrical release.
Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, ‘Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace’ is a cinematic adaptation of the June 15, 2020, Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops.
The film focuses on Colonel Santosh Babu, played by Salman Khan, and soldiers of the 16 Bihar Regiment, who were tasked with enforcing a disengagement agreement along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
Backed by Salman Khan Films, the movie also stars Chitrangda Singh as the female lead.
Meanwhile, Salman Khan’s upcoming lineup includes Vamshi Paidipally’s ‘SVC 63’, co-starring Nayanthara, and an untitled thriller being developed by Raj and DK. The actor has also returned as the host of the reality show ‘Bigg Boss 20’.
