Amritsar Soormas stormed into the final of the inaugural Sher-E-Punjab T20 League with a commanding seven-wicket victory over Mohali Kings at the I.S. Bindra Stadium here on Saturday.
A disciplined bowling effort restricted Mohali to 169/7 before Naman Dhir produced a blistering half-century to power Amritsar’s chase. His 91 off just 37 balls turned the contest decisively in the Soormas’ favour.
Mohali, sent in to bat, lost a few early wickets before Anmolpreet Singh and Ramandeep Singh steadied the innings with a 55-run fourth-wicket partnership. Ramandeep struck 42 off 28 balls, while Anmolpreet made 43 off 26.
Harpreet Brar and Sohraab Dhaliwal then added 54 runs for the sixth wicket. Dhaliwal scored a quick 26 off 13 balls before departing, while Brar remained unbeaten on 33 off 27 as Mohali finished on 169/7.
Jaipratap was Amritsar’s most successful bowler with three wickets for 45 runs in four overs, while Akash Pandey claimed two for 33. Shubham Rana bowled an economical three-over spell, conceding just 21 runs.
Amritsar’s chase suffered an early setback when Sahaj Dhawan and Jashanpreet Singh were dismissed with only seven runs on the board.
Naman Dhir and Abhay Choudhary responded by rebuilding the innings, with Naman taking the attack to the Mohali bowlers. The right-hander produced the defining assault of the match when he smashed 30 runs, including five sixes, in an over from Harshdeep Singh.
Naman continued his onslaught before Manpreet Singh trapped him in front. His 91-run knock, however, had already put Amritsar firmly in command.
Abhay Choudhary and Rahul Kumar then completed the chase without further trouble, adding an unbeaten 59-run fourth-wicket partnership. Abhay finished on 48 off 38 balls, while Rahul remained unbeaten on 26 off 16 as Amritsar sealed a comfortable seven-wicket win.
The victory booked the Soormas a place in the title clash of the inaugural Sher-E-Punjab T20 League.
