Marking 25 years of uninterrupted live Gurbani telecast from Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar, TangoPlus Services Pvt. Ltd. has launched ‘Gurbani Tube’, a dedicated digital platform for Gurbani and Sikh religious content.
The platform was launched by Sardar Jagjit Singh Kohli on the auspicious occasion of the First Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, Gurbani Tube aims to provide devotees worldwide with a single digital destination for Sikh religious programming.
The platform brings together live telecasts from major Gurdwaras, Sikh religious television channels, Gurbani Kirtan, Katha, Nitnem Banis, Hukamnama Sahib, Sikh history, documentaries, devotional music, educational programmes and other special religious content.
Developed by TangoPlus Services Pvt. Ltd., Gurbani Tube has been designed as a dedicated content discovery platform with an intuitive interface. Its stated objective is to preserve, promote and propagate the teachings of the Sikh Gurus through modern digital technology.
A Legacy of Innovation
Gurbani Tube is the brainchild of Sardar Jagjit Singh Kohli, who was instrumental in bringing live telecast of Gurbani from Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar, to millions of devotees across the world.
The historic initiative began on ETC Punjabi in November 2001 following years of sustained efforts and perseverance. It subsequently continued on PTC Punjabi, which had also been incubated by Kohli during its formative years before its management was later taken over by the Badal family.
The year 2026 marks the Silver Jubilee of the live Gurbani telecast, with the 25-year milestone to be completed on November 30. The uninterrupted broadcast has enabled millions of devotees across the globe to experience the divine blessings of Sri Harmandir Sahib from their homes.
‘Natural Extension’ of Live Telecast Journey
Speaking at the launch, Sardar Jagjit Singh Kohli said the creation of an independent digital platform devoted entirely to Gurbani and Sikhism was a matter of immense happiness and satisfaction.
He said the objective was to make the teachings and values of the Sikh Gurus easily accessible to devotees worldwide, particularly the younger generation, which increasingly engages with the world through digital platforms.
“If we wish to connect with today’s generation, we must reach them through the technology they use every day,” Kohli said.
Recalling the journey of live Gurbani telecast, he said the initiative had required years of perseverance, dedication and overcoming numerous challenges.
“This year marks the Silver Jubilee of the commencement of live telecast of Gurbani from Sri Darbar Sahib. That initiative required years of perseverance, dedication and overcoming numerous challenges. Gurbani Tube is a natural extension of that journey into the digital era,” he added.
