Bigg Boss 20 contestant Qazi Touqeer has opened up about his longstanding friendship with singer Arijit Singh, describing him as deeply passionate about music and praising his fighting spirit and grounded personality.
Speaking with fellow housemates on an episode of the reality show, Qazi recalled his friendship with Arijit, which dates back to their days as contestants on the 2005 singing reality show Fame Gurukul.
“Bro, I’m telling you. That guy is my life,” Qazi said while speaking affectionately about Arijit.
He recalled how Arijit could become completely absorbed in music for hours, particularly while playing the sitar.
“Uska fighting spirit crazy hai. Woh 8 ghante tak nahi thakta. Sitar leke baithta hai,” Qazi said, adding that once Arijit starts playing, he loses track of time and can remain engrossed in it for six or seven hours continuously.
Qazi also highlighted his friend’s love for the creative process, saying that while he himself has an interest in clothes, Arijit finds his joy in the process of creating music.
When asked to name his favourite Arijit Singh song, Qazi became emotional and chose “Tum Hi Ho” from the 2013 film Aashiqui 2. He dedicated the song to Arijit, saying their bond and the respect he has for his friend leave him “alfaz kam padh jaaye” — short of words.
“I love you, Arijit bhai. We love Arijit. Arijit bhai, I love you so much. The whole country loves him, bhai. Kuch bolne ki baat hi nahi hai,” he added.
Qazi and Arijit first met as young contestants on Fame Gurukul in 2005 and have remained friends over the years despite pursuing different career paths.
Their friendship was again highlighted after Qazi entered Bigg Boss 20, when Arijit took to X and said Qazi had given him a reason to watch the reality show for the first time.
“I will have to watch BIG BOSS for the first time in my life cz Apna Rockstar QAZI hai udhar,” Arijit wrote.
