Singer and composer Armaan Malik has responded to social media users accusing him and his brother, composer Amaal Malik, of being “ungrateful” to Salman Khan following Amaal’s public objection to being left out of a social media post celebrating 11 years of the song Main Hoon Hero Tera from Hero.
Amaal, who composed the song, had commented on a celebratory post shared by Salman Khan Films, pointing out that neither he nor the lyricist had been given credit. The post was subsequently edited to acknowledge Amaal’s contribution.
A social media user later criticised the Malik brothers, calling their reaction “shameful” and alleging that the support they had received should have gone to “more grateful and worthy people”.
Responding to the criticism on X, Armaan challenged the user to imagine creating an original song and then being denied due credit.
“I’d be curious to hear how that feels 🙂 Don’t talk about gratitude. I’ve always been grateful for my beginnings, but I also know how hard it has been to reach where I’ve reached. If we don’t fight for our right, no one will,” Armaan wrote.
The controversy began on Friday when Salman Khan Films shared a post marking the 11th anniversary of Hero, featuring Main Hoon Hero Tera, but did not initially mention the song’s composer and lyricist.
Amaal responded directly to the post, questioning the omission and criticising the handling of the social media account.
“Whoever is handling the page or the social media of @skfilmsofficial, I love the audacity you have shown by leaving out the composer, & the lyricist of the song lol!” he wrote.
He further said a song created through the “pain, blood, sweat and tears” of its composer and lyricist should not be celebrated without acknowledging its creators.
“Learn to do the basics otherwise delete this page. Don’t delete my comment, let Salman sir see it as well, so that he knows you guys screwed up,” Amaal added.
