Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday extended greetings to people on the Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, highlighting its teachings of equality, service, truth, compassion and harmony.
Shah, in a post on X, said the decision by Guru Gobind Singh Ji to confer the status of Guru upon Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji conveyed the message that true guidance comes from knowledge, truth and righteous principles.
He said the sacred scripture contains invaluable teachings on service, sacrifice, equality, compassion and humanity that would continue to inspire society towards human welfare.
Yogi Adityanath also extended his greetings to Sikh devotees and residents of Uttar Pradesh, describing Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji as a source of an eternal message of harmony, service, truth and compassion for humanity.
He urged people to imbibe its teachings and contribute to the progress of the nation and society.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also conveyed greetings on the occasion, expressing hope that the eternal wisdom of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji would guide people towards peace, equality and harmony.
Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak extended his best wishes to Sikh brethren and devotees, saying the teachings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji would continue to illuminate humanity with the values of social harmony, goodwill and compassion.
Meanwhile, the Punjab government has declared a local holiday in Sri Amritsar Sahib district on Saturday in view of the religious significance of the Prakash Purab. The order was issued by Punjab Chief Secretary K.A.P. Sinha.
