China Southern Airlines to Resume Guangzhou-Delhi Flights

New Delhi, September 12, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

China Southern Airlines will resume regular flights between Guangzhou and New Delhi from September 21, restoring direct air connectivity between the two cities after a six-year suspension.

The airline said it will operate more than 100 weekly flights across eight round-trip routes in the region as it brings back its India service.

The resumption comes as India-China air connectivity has gradually expanded this year amid efforts to improve bilateral ties. Air India restored its New Delhi-China services in February, while China Eastern Airlines resumed the Kunming-Kolkata route on April 18. Air China subsequently restarted its Beijing-Delhi service in April.

IndiGo also launched daily nonstop flights between Kolkata and Shanghai on March 30. The airline had earlier introduced daily direct flights between New Delhi and Guangzhou from November 10 last year.

The development comes as Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in India on Saturday to attend the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, marking his first visit to the country in nearly seven years. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Xi are expected to hold a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the summit.

China’s Foreign Ministry confirmed Xi’s participation on Thursday, saying he would attend the September 12-13 summit at Modi’s invitation.

Xi’s visit comes as India and China continue efforts to stabilise relations following the deadly Galwan clashes of 2020. India has consistently maintained that peace and tranquillity in the border areas are essential for the continued development of bilateral relations.
