The Punjab Government has sanctioned and released ₹8.33 crore for completing key infrastructure projects in minority-concentration areas of Gurdaspur district, Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur said on Monday.
The funding will facilitate the completion of 258 Anganwadi Centres, four Community Complexes and six additional classrooms across Gurdaspur, Kalanaur, Dera Baba Nanak and Dhariwal blocks.
Dr. Baljit Kaur said the projects were aimed at strengthening grassroots infrastructure and improving access to childcare, education and community services. She said the initiatives reflected the state government’s commitment, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, to inclusive and equitable development and the social and economic empowerment of minority communities.
Providing the block-wise details, the minister said Gurdaspur block would see the completion of 78 Anganwadi Centres and one Community Complex.
Dera Baba Nanak block has been allocated projects comprising 57 Anganwadi Centres, one Community Complex and five additional classrooms, while Kalanaur will have 51 Anganwadi Centres, one Community Complex and one additional classroom.
In Dhariwal block, 72 Anganwadi Centres and one Community Complex will be completed under the initiative.
Dr. Baljit Kaur said the projects would create durable community assets and improve the quality of public services for children, women and residents in the targeted areas.
She added that strengthening infrastructure at the grassroots level would help ensure that the benefits of development reached people across the district. The government, she said, remained committed to building modern public infrastructure, promoting equitable development and advancing the vision of a “Rangla Punjab”.
