IndiGo Flight Comes Into Contact With VDGS Pole While Parking at Srinagar Airport

Srinagar, September 4, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

An IndiGo aircraft came into contact with a pole supporting the Visual Docking Guidance System (VDGS) during the parking process at Srinagar Airport on Friday morning, officials said.

The incident occurred at around 9:02 a.m. when IndiGo flight 6E 225 (VT-NOG), operating from Navi Mumbai to Srinagar, came into contact with the VDGS pole while being positioned at Bay No. 06.

According to Srinagar Airport authorities, all passengers and crew members were safe and no injuries were reported. Passengers and crew were deboarded safely using manual aircraft stairs.

Officials said the circumstances surrounding the incident would be examined by the appropriate authorities in accordance with prescribed procedures. The exact cause will be determined after the inquiry is completed, and no conclusion is being drawn at this stage.

Airport operations continued normally following the incident, with arrivals and departures operating as scheduled.

The incident came a day after another IndiGo flight, operating from Doha to Bengaluru, was diverted to Muscat after its pilot-in-command reported feeling unwell and required urgent medical attention.

IndiGo flight 6E 1302 landed safely in Muscat, where the pilot was attended to by a medical team and subsequently taken to a hospital. The airline later said the crew member was in good health.

IndiGo arranged an alternate aircraft and a fresh crew in Muscat to enable passengers to continue their journey to Bengaluru. The airline also said it was providing refreshments and regular updates to passengers awaiting their onward travel.
