Prabhsimran Singh continued his sensational form with a second consecutive century as Jalandhar Warriors edged past Bathinda Royals by three runs in a thrilling last-ball finish in the Sher-e-Punjab T20 League 2026 at the I.S. Bindra Stadium on Thursday.
Batting first, Jalandhar Warriors posted 205 in 19.3 overs, with captain and wicketkeeper-batter Prabhsimran once again anchoring the innings.
The Warriors were in trouble at 62/3 before Prabhsimran joined Aryan Yadav to rebuild the innings. The duo took the attack to Bathinda’s bowlers and added 118 runs for the fourth wicket.
Aryan smashed 39 off just 19 balls before being dismissed, while Prabhsimran continued his assault and brought up his second successive hundred of the tournament. However, he received little support towards the end as Jalandhar lost wickets at regular intervals.
Ashwani Kumar was Bathinda’s standout bowler, finishing with 4/35 from four overs. He also created tournament history by claiming the first hat-trick of the competition.
Ashwani dismissed Sukhdeep Bajwa off the final delivery of the 17th over before removing Prabhsimran and Randeep Singh with the first two balls of the 19th over.
Chasing 206, Bathinda made a steady start as Rishabh Gupta and Harnoor Singh added 48 for the opening wicket. Gurvinder Bhullar provided Jalandhar with the breakthrough by dismissing Rishabh for 17 off 17 balls.
Harnoor kept the chase moving before falling for a well-made 44 off 29 balls. Captain Uday Saharan then took charge, bringing up a half-century and keeping Bathinda firmly in the contest.
Saharan found an aggressive partner in Shahbaz Sandhu, who scored 26 off 13 balls as the pair put pressure on the Jalandhar bowlers. However, the required run rate continued to climb.
Jalandhar bowled an excellent penultimate over to leave Bathinda needing 18 runs from the final six balls.
Randeep Singh struck with the first delivery of the final over, bowling Sandhu. But Saharan refused to give up, smashing a six and a four off consecutive deliveries to reduce the equation to six runs from two balls.
Randeep then produced the decisive moment, trapping Saharan lbw off the penultimate delivery for a superb 86 off 43 balls.
With six needed from the final delivery, Randeep bowled a wide, leaving Bathinda requiring five runs from one legal ball. Ashwini managed only two, allowing Jalandhar Warriors to hold their nerve and secure a dramatic three-run victory.
