New Delhi, November 1, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Union Minister J.P. Nadda on Sunday launched a sharp attack on Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi over the INDIA bloc’s ‘Chalo Dilli’ march, describing it as a “calculated conspiracy to sow chaos” and claiming that the rally would prove to be the “final nail in the coffin of the Congress party’s political decline”.

Calling the Opposition’s gathering at Ramlila Maidan a “well-orchestrated political drama”, the former BJP president said the people would no longer be misled by what he described as the Opposition’s deceptions.

The INDIA bloc organised the march to protest against the Election Commission of India (ECI) and Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar over alleged voter irregularities.

Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Nadda alleged that the rally was intended to create disorder under the cover of democratic principles.

“What is unfolding today at Ramlila Maidan is not an act of respect for democracy; rather, it is a calculated conspiracy to sow chaos — to plunge the nation into anarchy under the guise of democratic principles. It is nothing more than a foolish, well-orchestrated political drama staged by those who have been defeated and repeatedly rejected by the people. The public understands this perfectly well,” he said.

Nadda alleged that Rahul Gandhi followed a four-stage political strategy involving spreading misinformation, creating unrest on the streets, damaging the economy and attempting to destabilise an elected government at the behest of foreign powers.

He described the march as a “drama by Rahul Gandhi” and listed four alleged objectives: hurting the sentiments of the Sikh community, triggering riots and disorder in Delhi, disrupting the earnings of traders during the festive season and bringing disrepute to the country.

“This is India, not some ‘banana republic’ where you can incite arson, trigger riots, or push an agenda for ‘regime change’ whenever you please. Stop dreaming, Rahul Gandhi. India is the world’s oldest and most robust democracy,” Nadda said.

The Union Minister also invoked the 1984 anti-Sikh violence, describing November 1 as one of the darkest chapters in India’s democratic history.

“It was on this very day that thugs, nurtured by the Congress, carried out a massacre of our innocent Sikh brethren. Thousands of Sikh families were rendered homeless overnight, and thousands of women were left widowed. The nation has not forgotten. Even today, the ‘Widow Colony’ in Delhi stands as a testament to that horrific and cruel history of the Congress,” he said.

Nadda alleged that the Gandhi family had not offered a sincere apology to the Sikh community and accused Rahul Gandhi of choosing the date of the march despite its significance for victims of the 1984 violence.

“Witness the insensitivity of the Congress and the petty mindset of Rahul Gandhi. On this dark day, a day when the nation ought to be remembering the martyrs and the victims, Rahul Gandhi stands at Ramlila Maidan, seeking only to further his own political agenda,” he added.

Nadda further accused the Congress and its INDIA bloc allies of putting the livelihoods of Delhi’s traders at risk by holding a large political gathering during the festive season, when markets are preparing for Dhanteras, Diwali and Chhath Puja.

He referred to letters sent by the Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI) to Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav and Mamata Banerjee, urging them not to organise large political events in the capital during the festive period.

“Previous protests have already cost Delhi’s traders a loss of approximately Rs 3,000 crore. Furthermore, it is estimated that this current political spectacle could result in losses exceeding Rs 10,000 crore for our shopkeepers,” he said.

Listing major commercial areas, Nadda mentioned Chandni Chowk, Sadar Bazaar, Khari Baoli, Karol Bagh and Central Delhi, saying they were home to a large number of small traders.

He questioned whether INDIA bloc allies shared responsibility for what he described as an attempt to hurt the Sikh community and damage the livelihoods of Delhi’s traders.

Taking aim at Rahul Gandhi over his foreign visits and alleged remarks against India during those trips, Nadda questioned whether the Opposition’s agenda was focused on the country’s development or its destruction.

“I want to state clearly to Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party that the people of India will no longer fall for your deceptions. Your ‘toolkit’ of chaos has now been exposed,” he said.

Concluding his attack, Nadda said Rahul Gandhi and the Congress would be held accountable for the historical and economic issues he had raised.

“Rahul Gandhi, listen carefully: you cannot conceal the dark history of November 1. You cannot escape being held accountable for the tears of the traders of Delhi. India is a robust democracy. It will be governed not by your riot-driven politics, but by the Constitution and the mandate of the people. This rally of yours will prove to be the final nail in the coffin of the Congress party’s political decline,” he added.
