New Delhi, November 1, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Delhi’s latest pollution-control restrictions came into effect on Sunday, including a ban on the entry of older vehicles registered outside the national capital and a 50 per cent work-from-home arrangement for government and private offices.

The measures, announced by the Delhi government to tackle rising winter pollution, will remain in force for specified periods, with vehicle restrictions and office attendance limits continuing until January 31, 2027.

Under the vehicle restrictions, petrol and diesel vehicles registered outside Delhi that meet only BS-IV or older emission standards are prohibited from entering the capital. BS-VI-compliant vehicles are not covered by the ban. CNG and electric vehicles, ambulances, fire tenders, police vehicles and other notified categories have been exempted.

Inspection drives have been intensified at Delhi’s border points to enforce the restrictions.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had appealed to citizens, vehicle owners, construction agencies, institutions, resident welfare associations and commercial establishments to comply with the pollution-control measures.

The Environment Department said special enforcement teams had been deployed and compliance would be monitored through Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras and the AI-enabled Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC).

The restrictions also prohibit all dust-generating demolition and outdoor civil construction activities. Essential public infrastructure projects may continue subject to prescribed conditions. Indoor finishing, plumbing and electrical work at construction sites will be allowed if dust-control standards are strictly followed.

The government has also introduced a 50 per cent cap on physical attendance in government and private offices until January 31. The remaining staff will work from home, with prescribed exemptions for essential and emergency services.

To ease traffic congestion, Municipal Corporation of Delhi offices will operate from 8.30 am to 5 pm, while Delhi government offices will function from 10 am to 6.30 pm.

In another measure, parking fees at authorised parking facilities across Delhi have been doubled from November 1 until February 28. Parking facilities owned and managed by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) are exempt from the increase.

The Environment Department said enforcement data, including ANPR camera records, reported violations, challans issued and action taken at construction sites, would be monitored through the ICCC. Special enforcement teams have been directed to respond promptly to reports of violations.
