The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has named actors Dino Morea, Sooraj Pancholi and Rhea Chakraborty in an FIR registered in connection with the death of Disha Salian.
The development comes after the Bombay High Court directed the registration of an FIR and ordered a fresh CBI investigation into the case. The court also directed that a senior CBI officer supervise the probe.
The FIR was registered after Salian’s father, Satish Salian, recorded his statement before the CBI as part of the agency’s investigation into his daughter’s death.
In his statement, Satish Salian alleged that several individuals, including former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and his son and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray, were involved in an alleged conspiracy and subsequent cover-up. The allegations are part of the ongoing investigation and have not been established by a court.
According to the statement, Satish Salian has sought investigation into alleged offences including criminal conspiracy, the creation and propagation of what he described as a false narrative of suicide, and the alleged suppression, destruction or fabrication of evidence.
The statement also mentions Rohan Roy, Aditya Thackeray’s security personnel, Rhea Chakraborty’s brother Showik Chakraborty, former police officers Sachin Vaze and Param Bir Singh, DCP Vishal Thakur, Uddhav Thackeray, former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh and several police officials.
Other individuals and institutions referred to in the statement include personnel associated with Malvani Police Station, doctors and staff allegedly connected with the delayed post-mortem, officials of the Forensic Science Laboratory in Kalina, security guards at Regent Galaxy Building and others.
Earlier, the CBI had written to Malvani Police seeking documents and records relating to Salian’s death to assist its investigation.
Disha Salian, who had worked as the manager of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, died in June 2020. Her death occurred shortly before Rajput’s death and subsequently became the subject of speculation and demands for a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding both cases.
The CBI probe is expected to examine the allegations and circumstances surrounding Salian’s death.
