The BJP is planning a grand programme at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi completing 25 years in public life, with party president Nitin Nabin set to lead the celebrations, party sources said on Monday.
The event is being planned as part of the ongoing month-long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan and is expected to be one of the major highlights of the BJP’s nationwide celebrations. Modi is likely to attend the programme and address party leaders, workers and supporters, according to sources.
The celebrations will also include a series of programmes across Haryana on October 7. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to participate in a Seva Jyoti Yatra in Kurukshetra, while BJP leader Smriti Irani will join the programme in Jind. The visit will be Irani’s first to Haryana in her capacity as the state in-charge.
Earlier, Shah had said that 12 types of public welfare programmes were being organised under the month-long campaign to mark 25 years of “seva” by Modi as the “Pradhan Sevak”.
The campaign began on September 17, Modi’s birthday, and is scheduled to conclude on October 17. During the annual celebrations, BJP workers organise service camps across the country to promote the message of public service.
Among the programmes planned under the campaign are NaMo Seva’s Untold Stories, blood donation camps, musical and theatrical performances in local languages, Aangan Milan Sewa, Matru Samvad, Sewa Jyoti Kalash Yatra and Seva Mera Yogdaan.
A Vadnagar to Varanasi Sewa Yatra is also underway. Youth participants have begun their journeys simultaneously from Vadnagar and Varanasi, travelling through seven states. During the journey, they are making night halts in villages and participating in voluntary service and cleanliness drives.
