New Delhi, October 5, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal has said the company’s upcoming Temple wearable could eventually have applications beyond health monitoring, including helping assess pilot fitness and military readiness through physiological data.

Responding to users on social media platform X, Goyal said Temple could potentially be used to determine whether pilots are fit to fly and help armed forces identify personnel best suited for specific missions on a given day.

He was responding to a suggestion that the wearable could help restaurant managers and chefs monitor stress levels during demanding shifts.

“I would certainly have it on pilots to check if they are fit to fly. And on the air force to check who is the fittest to fly a mission today,” Goyal wrote.

His comments point to a potential future use of real-time physiological monitoring in high-stakes environments, where an individual’s physical and cognitive condition could be relevant to performance and readiness.

Goyal also revealed that the company is researching technology aimed at translating human thoughts into text. Asked whether Temple could eventually understand a user’s intentions and automatically trigger actions on a smartphone, he said such research was already underway.

“We have a research team working on thoughts to text, but that looks like a few years away. Maybe the third or fourth version of Temple,” he said.

For now, Temple remains focused on physiological sensing and health monitoring. One of its key features, BrainFlow, is designed to continuously track changes associated with blood flow to the brain.

Goyal said Temple recently completed its second validation study involving 60 participants exposed to three different physiological challenges.

According to the reported findings, BrainFlow showed correlations ranging from 0.84 to 0.91 with changes in brain blood volume measured using time-domain near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS), a technology that can distinguish blood-volume changes in the brain from those occurring in the scalp.
