Ludhiana, 10 May, 2025 (Yes Punjab News)
Punjab Congress Working President and party candidate for the Ludhiana West assembly by-election Bharat Bhushan Ashu today condemned the reported raids by the GST department on traders in Ludhiana when the country was at war with Pakistan.
In a statement, Ashu disclosed that he had been approached by traders from different markets including Chaura Bazar, and told that the GST officials were conducting raids.
He said, there could not be a worse time than this for such punitive action. He observed, when the country is at war with Pakistan and all sections of the society are contributing in their own way, the GST action is ill advised.
Ashu observed that traders have an important role to maintain the supply chain during critical and emergency situations. They need our support and not harassment, he observed, while urging the GST department that it can wait for the raids.
Let the war finish you can start with the raids as traders are not going anywhere, he urged the GST officials, while hoping that they will realize the sensitivity and gravity of the situation and not resort to such uncalled action at this time.
